Effects of pranayama and Suryanamaskar on liver enzymes, cognitive function in middle-aged men with MASLD

AUTHOR(S): Tamil Selvi S and Dr. V Mahadevan
ABSTRACT:
Metabolically associated steatotic liver disease is an emerging health epidemic that is connected with an increase in liver enzymes and cognitive impairments. The present study analyzed the impact of Pranayama and Suryanamaskar on the role of liver enzymes (ALT) and the cognitive performance of men in the middle age with the confirmed diagnosis of Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD). The sample participants were divided into the experimental and the control groups with the measures taken at post- and pre-intervention. The results showed that the experimental group experienced mean values of 13.33 IU/L and 7.80 in changes in ALT and cognitive functional scores unlike in the control group that recorded minimal change. The limited statistical analysis showed that the group differences post intervention was high on the basis that outcomes with ALT (F=42.15) and cognitive scores (F=21.03) were significant and hence the intervention was effective. Overall, Pranayama and Suryanamaskar (in isolation and combined) were shown to significantly improve liver enzyme patterns and cognitive abilities in the middle-aged men with MASLD, meaning that the respective yogic practices can be of the value in terms of metabolism and cognitive outcomes processing.
