A training program based on the use of emotional regulation skills to improve competitive behavior and perceived self-efficacy among young volleyball junior players

AUTHOR(S): Nsaif Jasim Mohammed
ABSTRACT:
This study aims to determine how well a training program centered on emotional regulation abilities might enhance adolescent volleyball players' competitive behavior and cognitive self-efficacy. The researcher used the quasi-experimental method, which is suitable for the nature of this study, employing a two-group (experimental and control) experimental design. The primary research sample consisted of (42) junior volleyball students from the preparatory stage, who were subjected to the competitive behavior scale (translated by Muhammad Alawi) and the researcher-prepared perceived self-efficacy scale. There were statistically significant differences between the experimental group participants' pre-test and post-test average scores on the competitive behavior scale and felt self-efficacy (at a significance level of 0.01).in favor of the post-measurement, according to the research findings. Additionally, the average at a significance level of 0.01, the experimental group's scores on the competitive behavior scale and perceived self-efficacy were statistically substantially higher than those of the control group. There was no statistically significant difference (at a significance level of 0.01) between the experimental group participants' average scores on the competitive behavior scale and the perceived self-efficacy scale in the post-measurement and follow-up evaluations.
