ABSTRACT:Background: Prenatal yoga (PY) has numerous benefits for pregnant women, including enhanced physical fitness, reduced stress, emotional stability, and improved peace of mind during pregnancy. Despite these advantages, its adoption in Bangladesh faces cultural, religious, and social barriers, limiting its accessibility and acceptance among expectant mothers.
Case Presentation: This study investigates the challenges faced by a pregnant woman in Bangladesh diagnosed with slightly elevated blood pressure and advised to remain engaged in physical activity. Confronted with resistance and disapproval from her family, as well as limited access to prenatal yoga classes, she continued to take online PY classes. This intervention led to measurable improvements, including controlled blood pressure, better sleep quality, relief from pregnancy-related pain, and emotional resilience.
Conclusion: This case highlights how PY can significantly improve maternal health. By overcoming cultural, social, and logistical challenges, Bangladesh can help pregnant women and their families experience better health and create a more supportive environment for mothers during pregnancy.
