ABSTRACT: The study sought to examine the effects of plyometric training on selected physical fitness parameters of youth basketball players in Bonga town, southwest Ethiopia. A quasi-experimental design was employed; 20 male youth basketball trainees were included in experimental groups (EG) and participated in plyometric training and regular Basketball training. The selected physical fitness variables were assessed by vertical jump height, 1-minute push-ups, 1-repetition maximum (1RM), and 30-meter dash. Data was analyzed with paired sample t-test using SPSS v20, with statistical significance set at p<0.05. Results showed significant improvements in selected physical fitness variables. The study concluded that an 8-week plyometric training program significantly enhanced the physical fitness performance of youth basketball players. Coaches should incorporate plyometric training methods to enhance players' athletic performance.
