Immediate effects of Om chanting and Bhramari pranayama on state anxiety and sustained attention

ABSTRACT: The study was conducted to observe if there are any changes in sustained attention and state anxiety immediately after the practice of om chanting and bhramari pranayama. Methodology: 30 healthy female students were divided into two groups, om chanting and bhramari pranayama group, and were assessed before and immediately after the sessions, assessment tools used were DLST, SLCT, and STAI-A state. Result: Student paired t-test showed a significant increase in both DLST and SLCT’s net scores in both group A as well as group B. It also showed significant reduction in the STAI-A state scores in both groups. Conclusion: Om chanting and bhramari pranayama may have a positive impact on state anxiety as well as on sustained attention.
