ABSTRACT:
The purpose of this study was to find out the difference of Self-Esteem between Inter-College and Inter-University Volleyball Players. Thirty-six (N=36) volleyball players between the ages of 19 and 25 took part in the research. All individuals were informed of the study's goal and methodology, and participants willingly participated in the research. There were two categories of subjects: Group-A: Inter-College Volleyball Players: (N1=22) and Group-B: Inter-University Volleyball Players: (N2=14). To measure the level of self-esteem of subjects for the present study, the Self-Esteem Inventory (SEI) developed by Prasad and Thakur (1988) was administered. This scale consists of two parameters namely: Personal Perceived Self Esteem and Social Perceived Self-Esteem. During the data analysis process, data exploration was conducted using descriptive statistics and graphical analysis. The current study utilized an unpaired t-test. All analyses were performed using SPSS version 20.0. A significance level of 0.05 was chosen for hypothesis testing. The calculated t value is smaller than the critical value (1.8034<2.032), hence the means of Inter-College and Inter-University Volleyball Players are not significantly different at 0.05 level of significance regarding Personal Perceived Self Esteem. The calculated t value is smaller than the critical value (1.0501<2.032), hence the means of Inter-College and Inter-University Volleyball Players are not significantly different at 0.05 level of significance regarding Social Perceived Self-Esteem and the calculated t value is exceeds the critical value (3.0225>2.032), hence the means of Inter-College and Inter-University Volleyball Players are significantly different at 0.05 level of significance regarding Self-Esteem (Total).
